Is Arizona a Credit Freeze State?   Yes. Arizona recently passed H2604, which provides access to credit freezes for all Arizona citizens. The law becomes effective on 31 August, 2008. However, as of November 1, 2007, the three major credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion) have voluntarily made credit freezes available to all Arizona state citizens. Innovis also voluntarily allows consumers in all states to freeze their Innovis credit files.

Eligibility:  All Consumers

Credit Freeze Fees:  (Per credit bureau. To be effective, you should place a freeze at each credit bureau)

  • No cost for Identity Theft victims to place a credit freeze (with copy of police report).
  • All others must pay $5.00 to place a freeze, temporarily lift, or to remove the freeze. *
  • Freeze will remain in place until removed by the consumer. There is a $5.00 fee for PIN replacement.

* Effective date of the law: August 31, 2008.  Prior to that date Arizona citizens may use the voluntary program at a cost of $10.00 per action.
